The when and where of it all! Feng Shui Tactics For Back To School
I know last week I said I was going to talk about bedroom decor, but this is important and is something that every parent should consider. We live in an age where we are bombarded with electronic gadgetry and communications. This goes right to the heart of bedroom decor in America, electronics should not be in your child’s room.
The list of things that should be portable, but stored in the living room or office of your home.
- Computer – Your child should have one, but gone are the days of a desktop. Get your child a mini laptop or one suitable for his or her age and needs. It should be made available to your child for his or hers studies for references and research, but removed when it becomes a distraction. It should not be allowed in their bedroom at bedtime. They should entertain themselves with it in “public” rooms of your home with your supervision.
- Phone – Your child will complain and probably through a tantrum, but during study time and bedtime the blackberry or iphone needs to be stored in your desk locked away. They will thank you when they are older.
- Mp3/Mp4 Players – This should be treated exactly like the cell. It’s for entertainment, thus not available during study time or bedtime.
A television should not be in any bedroom, especially in a child’s bedroom. They rob personal growth and energy from rest and concentration time. The television is already becoming a thing of the past like the rotary phone, but if you still use one it should be in a “public” room such as the living room or family room. They are entertainment. Your child should be given time for entertainment, but should also be encouraged to be active and also encouraged for quiet time for growth and thinking skills.
Stereos and Consoles are also gadgetry that should be placed in “public” rooms. If your child has time for entertainment in his or her room allow them the used of their laptop, iphone/blackberry or Mp3/Mp4 player during that time period only. Make sure to get it back and “put it away” during study time and bedtime. Times they are always a changin’, so you have the job of policing and guiding your child to success. Feng shui can only give you direction, you are the only one that can act on your child’s behalf.
Your child with a personal kua of 3 should have their head pointed or be facing East for their best result in retention and study. So when picking their bedroom choose one that is conducive to them facing East when sitting at their desk and when they are laying down on their bed, so that their head is pointing East. More on bedroom decor next week and the child with the kua of 4. For more on personal kua read Feng Shui Tactics For Back To School: Your Child’s Persoanl Kua.
